The use of conformal coatings is particularly important in automotive, military, aerospace, marine, lighting, industrial and green energy applications. Due to the rapid expansion of the electronics industry, conformal coatings are also finding their way into the domestic and mobile electronics industries, providing the necessary combination of high performance and reliability within a vast array of electronic devices.
Conformal coatings can be used in a wide range of environments to protect printed circuit boards from moisture, salt spray, chemicals and temperature extremes in order to prevent corrosion, mould growth and electrical failures, for example. The protection provided by conformal coatings allows for higher power and closer track spacing, in turn enabling designers to meet the demands of miniaturisation and reliability.

AFA-G is a more viscous / Gel like version of the successful AFA conformal coating. It has been designed to be used alongside the other AFA coatings. AFA-G is intended to be dispensed around the base of connectors to act as a permanent masking material. This masking layer will help prevent the capillary flow of material into the connectors, which can cause loss insulation of tabs and loss of connectivity. In addition, the improved resistance to flow of AFA-G can be used to more clearly define difficult keep-out areas during selective coating. . It can also be used to re-enforce sharp edges of critical components which may otherwise be missed by less viscous materials during the coating process.
Available in a 35ml syringe with LuerLock-adapter, it can be applied by hand, as well as with automatic dispensing equipment.
As it is based on AFA, its properties as a conformal coating are much the same as the AFA coating range which includes being free of aromatic solvents making it less harmful to the environment and the operator. It has a fast touch-dry time and excellent adhesion to most substrates while providing outstanding protection against humidity and salt mist.
